In environments where respiratory protection is required, having the right mask is only part of the equation. Just as important is how that mask fits the person wearing it. Mask fit testing makes sure a respirator forms a proper seal, so it can actually do the job it was designed for. Without that seal, even the correct equipment can offer less protection than expected.

Our personnel are trained and accredited in mask fit testing, having completed recognised training through Edith Cowan University. We also hold accreditation with the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists, Australia’s peak body for occupational hygiene. While accreditation isn’t legally required, it reflects a higher standard and gives added confidence that testing is being carried out properly.

Each respirator fit test is completed using recognised methods aligned with the RESP-FIT framework. The focus is on the individual, confirming whether a specific respirator model provides an effective fit, rather than assuming one size will suit everyone. If it doesn’t, alternative options can be identified and tested until the right fit is achieved.

This approach helps remove uncertainty. Workers know their equipment is working as intended, and employers can demonstrate that respiratory risks – including exposure to airborne contaminants like asbestos fibres – are being actively managed.
