Who Can Issue an Asbestos Clearance Certificate in Western Australia?

Not all parties involved in asbestos removal are permitted to issue clearance certificates.

In Western Australia, clearance certificates must be issued by a competent person who is independent from the asbestos removal contractor, particularly for licensed works. This is typically an Independent Competent Person (ICP), occupational hygienist or licensed asbestos assessor with appropriate qualifications and experience as per WHS (General) Regulations 2022. Ideally, the visual inspection and clearance certificate happen within 24 hours of asbestos removal.

North West Asbestos & Demolition Solutions works exclusively with independent assessors to maintain transparency and regulatory compliance. This separation of roles provides confidence to clients that clearance outcomes are impartial and defensible during audits or regulatory review.
